The Kapugi Bros. (Braca Kapudjija)

This is one of my all time favorite groups! They really took tamburitza music to new heights and raised the bar for orchestras to come.

There's a good biography of Marty Kapugi HERE.

  1. Hi,
I found a 78 by the Kapugi Brothers several years ago. This was before I knew anything about tamburitza. The record simply blew my mind, and still does to this day. I really have never heard anything quite like it. It is called the sitno kolo. Thanks for you great site!

  2. Frank Kapugi was my grandfather. I always loved listening to him and his brothers play their music. Had I grown up in Chicago near them, I most likely would be a musician too. Zivili Tamburasi!

    1. Hi Vince, thanks for writing. They were one of the greatest orchestras of all time and I'd give anything to go back to the 40s or 50s to hear them playing live at their club.

    1. Wow this is crazy.. My great father was Adam Kapugi . My mother's grandpa. He was our Gramp, and he helped raise us since babies all the way up to senior year. I don't believe or remember ever meeting Louis But i remember Frank.. I will always remember my Gramp calling me a dumb mexican.. lol I don't take any offense Adam was a great man. I'm very thankful He and Kapugi music exist in my life
